Ella is a sponge right now, and I LOVE it! She LOVES to learn. She sits and reads for long periods of time. She sits and writes. She publishes books. She draws. She crafts and crafts. Well, as of Friday night we can add that she sits and ties shoes... not just her own shoes, but any shoes she can find. I promised her a new pair of Twinkle Toes for this special big girl accomplishment since her Twinkle Toes are getting too small. Of course, I could not find her size. No worries though! She got a brand new pair of ballet spinning Sketchers... the kind with NO SHOESTRINGS! Oh well... I have a happy little girl, and I am one PROUD Mommy!

The Beginning of Upward 2012
It is basketball time again! I LOVE this stress-free sport for Car. He loves it just as much! This year we decided to play for Upward again. Carson is on a 3rd/4th grade team this year with five other players. Since he is older, that means we get a later game! Eleven o'clock games are great!!
Today was our first game of the eight game season. Car had a great game! He made a lot of baskets. His favorites are the ones from far away... even though I wish he would not try to take as many of those.

Moments to Make a Teacher Mommy's Heart Smile
When I picked Ella up from school today, she was bursting with excitement to share everything in her book bag with Carson and me. She had two Humpty Dumpty pieces of artwork, one Baby Jesus masterpiece, and a self-authored and illustrated book she was SO proud of. Shes LOVES to draw, color, write, and read. Being
a language arts teacher, this makes me so proud! I have LOVED to see how much she has grown as a writer and as a reader just since the beginning of the school year. I am so thankful she has an AMAZING teacher who fosters and celebrates this growth each and every day! God's work is SO amazing. The selfish sadness I felt to lose my friend at Lyman turned into a beautiful BLESSING for my Roo!

Shorts and Short Sleeves in... JANUARY???
For a majority of our Christmas vacation, Carson and Ella have been able to play outside in their summer attire. The past two days have definitely been no exception.
For Christmas Ella asked for Santa to bring her a real puppy. She did not get a real puppy, so she had to settle for a Furr Real puppy. She loves Lily. Lily walks, barks, and wags her tail. She even makes a great cuddle buddy when you release her leash. She has MOST of the benefits of a real puppy without any of the responsibilities. She will be Ella's puppy until it is time for a real puppy to join our family.
Today after church the kids enjoyed riding bikes outside and even a little football. I assumed Ella was going to be a cheerleader because she changed into her much too small Wofford cheerleader outfit, but I was wrong. She was linebacker! I'm glad they both had so much fun outside because it is supposed to start getting cold over the next few days and it's back to reality for us as Christmas vacation comes to an end. Now we can only hope for SNOW!!
